After finishing second in the Vezina Trophy voting at the end of 2018-19, Bishop was ranked the third best goalie in the NHL, behind Vezina winner Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Sergei Boborovsky who signed with the Florida Panthers in the offseason after spending the last seven seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
