In the middle of the first period of Thursday night’s game versus the Rangers, Stars forward Cody Eakin suffered a case of “brain flatulence” and ran over goalies Henrik Lundqvist. Eakin earned a 5 minute major and a game misconduct penalty.
Yesterday it was announced Eakin would be suspended for four games which equals to $85,555.56 salary that he will lose as well. He will be eligible to return for the Dec. 29 game vs. Colorado. (Blueshirt Banter)
NHL rule 42.1 states that when a goalie leaves the crease that he is not fair game, but one NHL writer thinks the rule should be changed.
