Following two stellar performances in back-to-back nights this weekend, goalie Remi Poirier has been selected as the AHL's Player of the Week.
Poirier allowed just one goal across 120 minutes of action, facing off against the world-beater Grand Rapids Griffins and the Chicago Wolves. Both contests were on the road, but it was no problem for the French-Canadian tender as he stopped 59 of 60.
The shutout he earned was the first one Grand Rapids has experienced all year. The last time GR was shutout was also at the hands of Poirier, a 4-0 win in last year's playoffs.
