The funny thing about the NHL is the team that plays the best doesn't always get the most points.
That said, the team that plays the most consistently typically does just fine in the standings.
That's a lesson the Stars are trying to embrace right now.
Dallas played a patient game and outwaited the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in a shootout Saturday at American Airlines Center.
Dallas takes four points out of a home-and-home with their Central Division rivals, moving to 15-10-1 (31 points). Chicago falls to 12-9-5 (29 points).
The Stars are now 10-2-0 at home and 5-8-1 on the road, but coach Ken Hitchcock said the difference between the two really isn't that drastic.
