Stars general manager Jim Nill said he's sad to see defenseman Patrik Nemeth leave the organization, but happy that the 25-year-old will be getting a fresh start. Nemeth was claimed on waivers Tuesday by the Colorado Avalanche.
"We like Patrik, and you'd like to keep all of your good players, but the system is designed to give players a new opportunity, and it's working for Patrik here," Nill said. "We wish him success."
Nemeth was one of nine NHL defensemen in camp for the Stars, and finished ninth on the depth chart, so he was placed on waivers Monday.
