Dealing with a medical issue that most people can't spell, let alone understand, Stars forward Mattias Janmark is understandably concerned.

Janmark missed all of last season following surgery and treatment for osteochondritis dissecans, a condition in which a lack of blood supply causes certain parts of the bone to weaken and then break loose.

Janmark last September had a piece of bone in his knee attached by a screw and then had a second surgery in March to have the screw removed. He's been skating all summer to test and strengthen the knee.

Asked if he's worried about the procedure affecting his trademark speed, the 24-year-old let out a nervous laugh.
