How Stars are hoping Hanzal, Methot help improve Dallas' historically bad penalty kill

FRISCO -- The Stars on Tuesday introduced a couple of players who should help improve an historically bad penalty kill.

They aren't the only answers, as new coach Ken Hitchcock and new assistant coach Rick Wilson have a history of devising good systems to stop opposing power plays. But adding center Martin Hanzal and defenseman Marc Methot should get Dallas up from 73.9 percent, the worst success rate for a penalty kill in the last 20 years.

"If we're going to be a consistent playoff team, you've got to be in the top 10 or 12 of your special teams, and part of that is your penalty killing," Stars general manager Jim Nill said.
