John Klingberg was late for a team meeting Monday morning and will be a healthy scratch against the Minnesota Wild, coach Lindy Ruff said.
Asked if Klingberg was late or missed the meeting entirely, Ruff said: "It doesn't really matter. If you're late or missed, it's the same."
Klingberg said there was no excuse, and that it won't happen again.
"I'm going to have to learn from this," Klingberg said. "I feel embarrassed. There are no excuses, I overslept. I told my teammates I'm sorry, it's not going to happen again."
The timing is interesting in that the Stars' top prospect, Julius Honka, was recalled Sunday to take the place of injured defenseman Johnny Oduya (lower body) and will make his NHL debut Monday against Minnesota.
