It's difficult to call this "a breakout season" for John Klingberg when he's already been one of the best defenseman in the NHL over his three-season career.
Klingberg entered the season eighth in scoring for NHL defensemen since his career started in 2014 and 15th in SAT (shot attempt differential at even strength). He's also been fourth overall on the Stars in scoring during that span and first in time on ice, plus-minus, and SAT.
He's been a pretty complete player.
So it shouldn't be a surprise when the 25-year-old blueliner takes the next step.
