Devin Shore has two advantages in his rookie season.
One, he's a pretty smart player. And two, he's not a defenseman.
The 22-year-old forward has worked his way through 49 NHL games this season, but it hasn't always been a smooth ride. He has struggled with possession numbers at times, and also made his share of mistakes, but because he's one of just two players who has been in the lineup every night, he has been able to learn and improve.
"It's great to play through your mistakes," Shore said. "I'm always focused on defending hard, and if you defend hard, I do think that earns you more trust.
