FRISCO -- The Stars signed this year's first-round draft pick, and then they sent him on his way.
The Stars signed Ty Dellandrea -- selected No. 13 overall in June -- to a three-year entry-level contract Wednesday before he later was included in the first round of training camp cuts. Dellandrea made his preseason NHL debut Tuesday night and will spend the season with Flint in the Ontario Hockey League.
"Great energy," Stars coach Jim Montgomery said of Dellandrea. "You see someone, the way he carries already at 18 years old, carries himself like a pro. Someone that we know is going to develop into a really good hockey player for us.
