After Jamie Benn took an ill-advised penalty late in the first period, Blake Wheeler lost his footing on the right wing and slid lucky pass to Patrick Laine across the slot. Laine scored on the power play with 0.9 seconds left to give the Jets a 1-0 lead. It was the eighth time this season the Stars had allowed a goal in the final 10 seconds of a period, the third time in the past eight games.
