In the first period, with the Stars up 1-0, Gemel Smith took a short pass in his own zone and circled up ice. He jetted past one Sabre, stepped around the check of another and then tossed the puck on net. Radek Faksa smashed in the rebound to put give the Stars two goals in less than four minutes and send them on their way to a rout.
