Three Stars
1. John Tavares, Islanders -- Two goals and several scary scoring chances.
2. Kari Lehtonen, Stars -- Quite possibly his best game of the year with 33 saves, and he lost.
3. Thomas Greiss, Islanders -- Posted his second consecutive shutout with 23 saves.
Big play
With Dallas on the power play two minutes into the game, Islanders captain John Tavares broke in alone shorthanded. Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen came up with a huge save, keeping the game scoreless. That was important, because the Stars have yielded seven shorthanded goals, second most in the league, and because it was the first shot on goal.
