Bad luck aside, the Stars' struggling defense starts with John Klingberg

John Klingberg shook his head and looked to the heavens. It's been that kind of year for the Stars defenseman.

Three minutes into the Stars' game with the Edmonton Oilers Saturday, Klingberg stuck out his stick to try to break up a pass. The puck went right off his blade and into the net, an ominous harbinger in what would turn into a 5-2 loss.

The game will be remembered for Oilers captain Connor McDavid breaking out of a 10-game goal drought and tallying the first hat trick of his career, but it was really about what the Stars didn't do.
