A left-handed defensive defenseman was on the radar for Jim Nill this summer.
The Stars general manager had been rumored to be seeking a nice complement to his skilled right-handers John Klingberg and Julius Honka, and there was belief that Nill might move down from third overall or even give up the 29th or 39th pick in the draft to resolve the situation.
Instead, Nill stayed patient and on Monday picked up Marc Methot from the Vegas Golden Knights. Now, Dallas has the potential to fix the defense and also have a long-term solution on the left side -- and that's a pretty good trick.
