A page from the Dallas Cowboys' playbook could be all the Stars' turnaround needs

This thing the Dallas Stars hope to accomplish worked with the Cowboys a year ago. They simply erased a bad season, put it out of their minds, made a couple of tweaks (is that a slight understatement for adding Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott?) and returned to where they had been the year before.

The Stars are giving it a try, even if Ken Hitchcock also represents something more than a simple tweak. Jim Nill's job as general manager was to find a coach who would place a greater emphasis on defense, and no one does that quite like Hitchcock.
