After months of speculation, the Stars franchise has officially just made history by drafting Miro Heiskanen 3rd overall, the highest selection since the franchise moved from Minnesota to Dallas.
Heiskanen is a smooth, smart, puck-moving defenseman that played big minutes for HIFK In the Finnish Elite League in the 2016-17 season, picking up 10 points in 37 games.
He’s also been a staple for Finland at international junior events over the last two years. He was part of the gold medal-winning team at the 2016 IIHF U18s, then played for his home country at the 2017 World Juniors as a 17 year-old.
