2017 NHL Entry Draft: Dallas Stars Select Goaltender Jake Oettinger 26th Overall

After nabbing the best defenseman in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Miro Heiskanen, with the 3rd overall pick, the Dallas Stars grabbed the best goaltender in the draft as well, selecting Jake Oettinger at 26th overall.

The Stars previously held the 29th overall pick, but traded it alongside the 70th overall selection to the Chicago Blackhawks for this pick.

Oettinger is a 6’4” goaltender with an incredible track record of success so far in his career. He played for the prestigious USA Hockey National Team Development Program from 2014-16, before moving up to Boston University in the NCAA this past season.
