SAN ANTONIO - You may have noticed that it is Dec. 15.
There may be 10 shopping days before Christmas, but the NBA's version of a sale-athon began Friday.
And?
Nothing.
Dec. 15 is a key date in the league because that's when free agents signed in the summer can be aggregated with other players in trades. The league puts a lockout date on such movement to avoid any shenanigans.
This essentially is when the trading season starts. The Mavericks, it appears, are very content to ride this season out the way they are constructed, barring some sort of no-brainer deal that comes along or a waiver-wire pickup seems too obvious not to try.
