NEW YORK – At the NBA draft, one of the most intriguing parts of the process is the unknown.
You never can tell when a No. 15 pick like Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes an MVP. Or a second-rounder from Serbia wins that award three times, like Nikola Jokic. Or a 33rd pick like Jalen Brunson becomes a superstar.
Sometimes, though, it’s nice to fall back on a sure thing, a player who has it all and can’t miss. Think LeBron James, Anthony Davis or Shaquille O’Neal. They were No. 1 picks who were virtual locks to be future hall of famers from the very start.
