Second-chance points: Doncic’s new normal and who prospered without him on the court vs. Detroit

Here’s our takeaways from the Mavericks’ 122-111 victory over Detroit at Mexico City.

Getting used to this: There was a time when Detroit’s Griffin was the best player on the floor when he was in any game. No more. Same goes for Andre Drummond. Or Kristaps Porzingis. This is Luka’s world now. We’re all just watching it go by. And enjoying every minute. Luka Doncic had 41 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists and it was the first time anybody’s ever had a triple double in an NBA game in Mexico. He was the crowd favorite from the very start, although Detroit’s Derrick Rose got plenty of support from the sellout crowd.
