NEW YORK – Thanks to a mega-sized piece of divine intervention from the hoop gods, Mavericks’ nation got the opportunity to rejoice on draft day.

The Mavericks planted the Flagg in Dallas, making it official Wednesday night when commissioner Adam Silver stepped to the podium and said: “With the first pick of the 2025 NBA draft, the Dallas Mavericks select, Cooper Flagg from Duke University.”
And with that, celebrations commenced and a new era began.
The 6-9 18-year-old from Newport, Maine, becomes the first No. 1 pick in franchise history since 1981 when Mark Aguirre was selected.
