Mavs' Rick Carlisle sees Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell as proof you don't need to tank to get great talent in NBA draft

While a large number of Mavs fans clamor for the team to lose games down the stretch for a higher draft pick, head coach Rick Carlisle sees a player in Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell as evidence as to why that isn't necessary.

"I haven't really studied it but he's got to be up there for Rookie of the Year," Carlisle said.

The race for that award looks to be a decision between Mitchell and Philadelphia 76ers standout Ben Simmons. While saying both are great, Carlisle explained why Mitchell has been special in his debut season in the NBA.
