LAS VEGAS – In the NBA Summer League, a lot more players are hunting jobs than already have one.
But it’s the ones who have some level of security that drive the engine.
Cooper Flagg clearly leads that brigade. His Mavericks debut Thursday night against Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers will highlight the opening day of play in Las Vegas. Flagg, the No. 1 overall draft pick last month, and the Mavericks are getting prime-time treatment, much like Victor Wembanyama did two years ago with the San Antonio Spurs.
Thomas & Mack Center is expected to be sold out, primarily to see Flagg and the Lakers.
