Mavericks keeping final roster spot open in case trade before deadline materializes

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Mavericks allowed the second 10-day contract of Kyle Collinsworth to expire, but he might yet be with the team when the trade deadline passes.

Carlisle said the team is keeping their final roster spot open, just in case a trade to their liking presents itself before Thursday’s deadline.

Asked if bringing back Collinsworth was a possibility, Carlisle said: “To my knowledge, it is. There’s a chance that could happen. We’ve got to maintain flexibility until after the deadline passes.”

Carlisle reiterated what he said last week in that he believes the odds are against the Mavericks doing anything before the deadline.
