PORTLAND, Ore. - Luka Doncic takes a lot of grief from teammates and even coaches for trying crazy shots during practice sessions, shots that have virtually no practical use.
He'll heave them from midcourt and beyond - and make one occasionally.
He'll float them toward the rafters and try to plop them into the net.
He'll simulate the end of games and jack shots from weird angles and distances just to see if he can make them.
"A lot of people think it's a joke, but it's not," Doncic said Sunday in the locker room after the Mavericks' overtime loss to Portland.
