Longtime team physician parts ways with Mavericks, citing 'philosophical differences'

The Mavericks and 16-year team physician Dr. T.O. Souryal are parting ways, likely at the end of the season, according to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News.

Sefko's story cites "philosophical differences" on "non-medical issues" as the reason for the departure and there's no evidence to think that's not true. Several Mavericks have rehabbed or are continuing to rehab successfully from offseason injuries, including Wesley Matthews, Chandler Parsons and JaVale McGee. All three returned on schedule or sooner than anticipated, at least according to their public injury timelines.

Souryal reportedly wanted to wait until those three had fully returned from their injuries before announcing his departure from the team.
