J.J. Barea returns to the Dallas Mavericks with a 1-year, $2.6 million contract

The final piece of the Dallas Mavericks’ roster puzzle is finally in place. Friday, the team signed veteran guard and fan-favorite J.J. Barea to a one-year, $2.6 million guaranteed contract, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.

Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News initially reported the team’s intention of bringing Barea back on November 21.

Barea’s contract is similar to the one he signed with the team last summer. Dallas brought him back on a one-year, $2.56 million veteran’s minimum then.

Coming into this off-season, Barea’s future with the Mavericks—and as an NBA player—seemed to be at a crossroads.
