Shortly after the Mavericks' season ended, guard J.J. Barea and owner Mark Cuban took a trip to Puerto Rico to help with reconstruction of a beachfront bar that was destroyed by Hurricane Maria and was to be featured on the hit show Bar Rescue.
What they ended up doing was so much more than fixing up a demolished bar. It turned out to be a rewarding trip in so many ways, not only for Barea and Cuban, but also for the show's star, Jon Taffer, as the group took on the job of restoring a community center, a basketball court and a baseball field in addition to the bar.
