Three billboards along Interstate 30 near downtown Dallas sum up the Mavericks’ theme for the season.
The first sign has Dirk Nowitzki shooting one of his trademark fadeaway jump shots.
The second, just a few hundred feet after the first, shows only a basket and says “Come for the history.”
The third says: “Stay for the future,” with a picture of Luka Doncic
The Mavericks’ home opener Saturday night was nothing if not a clear view of what the future will look like.
Nowitzki was nowhere to be found on the court, but looked smashing in a light blue suit on the bench.
