Harrison, Mavs fans, excited about the addition of Flagg, who is a generational player

Because Cooper Flagg checked all the boxes, Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison knew it was a no-brainer for him to select the Duke All-American with the No. 1

overall pick in Wednesday’s NBA Draft.

Particularly since Flagg is as much in love with his stellar defensive skills as he is with his tremendous offensive skills.

“He’s a basketball player,” Harrison said. “He can handle the ball, he can shoot, he can make plays for people, he’s a good passer. He’s going to be on the floor.

“The big thing is who can he defend, and he’s a great defender.
