AUSTIN – Texas lawmakers honored former Dallas Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki at the state capitol on Tuesday for his impact on the sport of basketball and praised his work through the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation.
Nowitzki also received bipartisan support from the Texas House and Texas Senate, in addition to receiving a standing ovation after legislators recognized him with a resolution.
In the Senate, Sen. Royce West, D-Dallas, honored Nowitzki, calling him a “a true legend and icon.
