Dallas' new WNBA team gets official name: the Dallas Wings

Over the summer the WNBA approved a franchise move for the Tulsa Shock, allowing them to go to Dallas to start the 2016 season. Earlier this week, the official team name and logo were announced, and the Shock are now the Dallas Wings. The Wings will play at College Park Center, the on-campus basketball facilities at the University of Texas at Arlington.

The Wings roster boasts several players who spent their collegiate years in the state, including Odyssey Sims (Baylor), Tiffany Jackson-Jones (Texas), and Pienette Pierson (Texas Tech). Probably the most familiar name on the roster is Skylar Diggins, the former Notre Dame guard who led the Fighting Irish to three consecutive Final Four appearances and two National Championship appearances.
