The Dallas Mavericks traded for Willie Cauley-Stein in January. They needed a roll man and rim protector to replace Dwight Powell after he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. Cauley-Stein offered more rebounding too. Things did not work out as planned, though.
Trill struggled to find his footing in Dallas partially because the Mavs moved Kristaps Porzingis to the five after Powell’s injury, and he caught fire. It was hard to take him out.
