The Dallas Mavericks made a bit of a surprising signing on July 26. The team agreed to a training camp deal with Dakota Mathias. Here is a bit of background on the newest Mav.
Mathias is listed at 6’4 and 197 pounds. He is a combo guard. Mathias played four seasons of NCAA basketball at Purdue before going undrafted in 2018. He was twice on the Big Ten All-Defensive Team. Mathias also shot 41.9 percent over his 597 college 3-point attempts.
The 24-year-old guard struggled to find traction last season. He played in summer league with the Cavaliers before earning a deal to play in Spain.
