The Dallas Mavericks had a charmed run to begin this century. They made the playoffs in 15 of 16 years including winning the championship in 2011. Dirk Nowitzki was leading the team and cementing his legendary status during that run.
The last two seasons have been a different story. The Mavs have been firmly planted in the lottery. They are now in the midst of a rebuild.
The first lottery pick was point guard Dennis Smith Jr. He is one of the fastest players in the league. DSJ had a strong rookie season too.
