Only ten years old, I was just behind the Mavs’ bench for Dirk’s first memorable Dallas Mavericks moment.
Having been to the NBA finals two years before and suffering a heartbreaking loss to the “We believe” Warriors the following year, Dirk became the team’s all-time leading scorer with his classic fadeaway jumper over Richard Jefferson in the fourth quarter of a tense game from the right elbow.
