The Dallas Mavericks knew Luka Doncic was special from the moment they laid eyes on him. He helped Slovenia win EuroBasket 2017 as a teenager. Doncic followed that up by winning EuroLeague MVP in 2018 as he led Real Madrid to the championship. The Mavs traded up to third overall in the 2018 NBA Draft to draft Doncic but felt like they got a steal.
Luka has quickly become one of the best players in the league. He finished in the top five in the MVP race last season as a 21-year-old.
