The Dallas Mavericks aggressively targeted Delon Wright in the offseason. He was a restricted free agent, but the Grizzlies had just acquired him from the Raptors at the trade deadline. They wanted to keep Wright in Memphis long-term, but the Mavs made an offer they did not refuse.
Wright got a three-year $28.05 million contract from the Mavs. They view him as a valuable point guard that can excel on the defensive end of the floor. He will be the secondary ball-handler in the starting unit as well.
Wright injured his hamstring in the lead up to training camp, though.
