Chandler Parsons officially out for the year after undergoing surgery

ESPN Dallas' Tim MacMahon reports that Chandler Parsons underwent successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee Friday morning.

The procedure, performed by the Mavericks' team physician Daniel Worrel, will sideline Parsons for the rest of the season.

Unlike last season, when Parsons suffered more serious damage to his right knee that required hybrid microfracture surgery to repair it, he is not expected to endure months of recovery time. It is expected that Parsons will recover in time to return to his normal offseason workout routine.

The timing of Parsons' injury is unfortunate for the Mavs who are in the midst of a push to make the post season.
