3 Biggest Needs For The Dallas Mavericks This Offseason

The 2015 NBA Draft is in the books, and now it's time for the Dallas Mavericks to drown out all of the rumors and attack free agency with focus and purpose when July 1st rolls around. With that in mind, here's our list of the 3 Biggest Needs For The Dallas Mavericks This Offseason.

1. A Point Guard

Dallas has been looking for a starting point guard to run the offense through ever since Jason Kidd retired, but they just haven't been able to find one. It's a weak free agency class at the position heading into July, so keep an eye on the trade market and a guy like Brandon Jennings or on budget veteran options in free agency such as Mo Williams.

2. Re-Sign Tyson Chandler

Dallas needs a rim protector in the frontcourt they can pair with Dirk Nowitzki, but they probably won't be able to land one better than the one they already have. Chandler showed he had plenty left in the tank after joining the Mavs early in the 2014-15, and he was happy enough in the Big D that they should be able to re-up him on a cost-effective deal.

3. Find Perimeter Defense In Free Agency

The Mavs were putrid defending the arc in 2014-15, giving up the fourth-highest shooting percentage in the league from opposing 3-point sharpshooters. While they're aren't a lot of lockdown wing defenders to be had that aren't destined to return to their current locales in free agency (*cough* Draymond Green *cough*), rumors have it that the Mavs could look to mid-level rising wings in free agency such as Milwaukee's Khris Middleton.
