What We Learned From The Cowboys' 30-16 Win Over The Packers

The Dallas Cowboys continued their outstanding winning streak today, going into Lambeau Field and beating the Green Bay Packers, 30-16. The win gives Dallas their fifth straight victory and a 5-1 record, while Green Bay drops to 3-2. Here are the three biggest takeaways from the game.

3) Ezekiel Elliott might be the best back in the league
Let this stat sink in for a second - Elliott recorded his fourth straight game with at least 130 rushing yards in this game. Not only has no rookie ever achieved that feat before, but no Cowboys runner has ever had three consecutive games with over 130 yards (that includes Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, Herschel Walker, DeMarco Murray, etc.). Elliott is six games into his career and is already doing historic things - a scary notion for the rest of the NFL.

2) Stop deflecting - something is wrong with Green Bay's offense
Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy have been saying in press conferences that nothing is wrong with their offense and they're tired of hearing out it. They're simply in denial - something is definitely wrong. The Packers only managed to score one touchdown in this game, and it just so happened to be the first passing touchdown Rodgers has thrown in the second half all season. Green Bay's running game was virtually non-existent, accounting for just 78 yards on just 3.3 yards per carry. Oh yeah, and they turned it over four times.

This unit has failed to meet their lofty expectations virtually all year, and they need to get back on track soon if they want to keep pace with the Vikings in the division.

1) The Cowboys are Dak Prescott's team
Jerry Jones and the rest of the Cowboys brass can stop talking - it would be a big mistake to replace Dak Prescott with Tony Romo when Romo returns from his back injury. He has guided them perfectly on this five game winning streak, making their offense one of the top 10 units in the league. He's also doing it efficiently (even though he threw his first interception of the season today), completing two-thirds of his passes. Prescott also threw a career-high three touchdowns in this one, showing his increased comfort with the offense.

As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it - and things are the furthest thing from broken in Dallas right now.
