Why Amari Cooper more focused on taking next step with Dak Prescott than contract talk

Per vice president Stephen Jones, the Cowboys are in active negotiations with receiver Amari Cooper on a contract extension.

Cooper, who was acquired in a mid-season trade from the Oakland Raiders in 2018, has one year left on his deal and is set to make $14 million in 2019 in the fifth year of his rookie deal.

Yet, Cooper is more focused on getting better with his teammates and earning respect than the contract. Although he recently had a conversation about it with Stephen Jones at the Cowboys club, he has let his agent Chafie Fields handle the talks with the team.
