FRISCO, Texas -- More than two hours before kickoff Sunday at Levi’s Stadium, Trey Lance will be on the field, throwing passes to wide receivers, tight ends and running backs.
If the original plan had worked, he would be preparing to play against the Dallas Cowboys as the San Francisco 49ers’ starting quarterback. Lance, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 draft, would be on his way to becoming San Francisco’s next Joe Montana or Steve Young. Or at the very least Jeff Garcia or Jimmy Garoppolo.
