The Cowboys 'orphans' might be the NFL's biggest surprise

FRISCO -- Nothing seemed off script last week when a 12-2 Cowboys team didn't get a defensive player named to the Pro Bowl.

Not even linebacker Sean Lee, who ranks second in the NFL with 168 tackles, was honored.

The Cowboys' defense has become accustomed to being overlooked and underappreciated on a team that features one of the league's most feared offenses.

"Ah, orphans," Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said, rekindling his nickname for his unit that lacks superstars.

Defensive end Tyrone Crawford leads the Cowboys with only 4½ sacks. Safety Barry Church leads the team with only two interceptions.
