FRISCO, Texas – Jaylon Smith’s Dallas Cowboys teammates have recognized the linebacker’s comeback from a serious knee injury but naming him the team’s recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award.

Smith did not play as a rookie after getting hurt in his final game at Notre Dame but has managed to play in every game this season and is the team’s leading tackler, according to the coaches’ breakdown with 96 stops.

“It’s just a blessing for me and I love my teammates and they’ve been with me every step of the way and motivated by them and I just appreciate them really seeing everything I had to go through and seeing the hard work, seeing the effort I put in to get back out on the field with those guys and really compete at a high level,” Smith said.
