State of the Cowboys: Nothing left to distract skeptics, key figures feeling the heat and the team's mental hurdle

FRISCO -- Voters have taken to the polls in record numbers to have a say in what happens next.

Jason Garrett should breathe a sigh of relief that he's not on the ballot.

It's hard to find a less popular figure locally than the Cowboys head coach in the wake of the team's 14-point loss to Tennessee. The only one who may have an idea of what Garrett is going through is quarterback Dak Prescott.

The fate of both men have come under scrutiny in this 3-5 season. It will only intensify going forward.

Owner Jerry Jones did a masterful job of distracting the growing legion of skeptics during the break.
