Rod Marinelli: Randy Gregory starting to show his 'rush ability'

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Cowboys started Sunday’s preseason game against the 49ers with DeMarcus Lawrence, Ken Bishop, Jack Crawford and Jeremy Mincey as their defensive front.

Greg Hardy came in on third down to play right defensive end, moving Mincey inside. Randy Gregory entered shortly after, moving Hardy to left end.

And that’s when the Cowboys recorded their first sack of 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick. Gregory, the second-round pick out of Nebraska, beat Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Staley to the outside to record the 14-yard loss.

“I feel like he’s been consistent like that both games and I thought our practice against the Rams, too,” Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said.
