Pupil to Surpass Teacher: Lawrence’s Next Sack Moves Him Past Lett on Cowboys All-Time Sacks List

What happens when a pupil surpasses his teacher? If Leon Lett is the teacher and DeMarcus Lawrence is the student, Lett will be the happiest coach in the NFL.

Leon Lett is the Cowboys’ assistant defensive line coach. When Lett played defensive tackle for Dallas for 10 seasons (1991-2000), he tallied 3 Super Bowl rings and 22 ½ career sacks on his Cowboys’ resume.

One of Lett’s current pupils, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, also has 22 ½ career sacks. He’s tied with his coach for 12th place on the Cowboys’ all-time sacks list.
